Street Lighting

Improved street lighting has been shown to help reduce both crime and the fear of crime which is why Neighbourhood Management funded scheme to renew many of the street lamps in South Ward. The idea for the new street lamps came from members of the Crime and Community Safety Group. The new columns provide bright white light, are environmentally friendly and can be controlled remotely.

The scheme was delivered in partnership with North Somerset Council’s Streets and Open Spaces team. New street lamps were installed along all of the bus routes in South Ward during summer 2008.

Streets that benefited from improved street lighting were:

  • Stuart Road
  • St Ives Road
  • Bryon Road
  • Chaucer Road
  • Windwhistle Circle
  • Lonsdale Ave
  • Waverly Road
  • Bournville Road
