A new mural is now adorning a wall of a Weston park thanks to the hard work of young people from the Potteries and the Youth Offending Team.
Young people spent 2 weeks of the Easter holidays 2010 painting a sea front scene on to the 70m long wall.
The design was drawn by Colin Simmons, a Youth Offending Team worker for North Somerset Council after residents were consulted over improving the park in 2008/9. The design is of Weston super Mare sea front and includes all of the buildings and the new pier and stretches over the whole length of the wall.
The project was funded by money left over in an account for the original Millennium Green project back in 2000 and was supported by North Somerset Council’s Youth service who attended every day to work with young people from the area.
This money also paid for an extra seat in the park and an event that was held during summer holidays in 2010.
