The Loxton Road shopping area on the Coronation has benefited from a revamp which includes painting the maisonettes; new lighting; seating and paving.
Unique street furniture designed by artist Mike Fletcher has been incorporated in to the design. The bespoke street furniture includes cycle racks and railings.
Work commenced in September 2008 and was jointly funded by the South Ward Neighbourhood Management Partnership and NS Housing.
Work was completed in December 2008 and an opening celebration was held in March 2009, with a free raffle and tea, coffee, bacon rolls and chips.
Artist Gary Drostle designed 3 circular mosaics and installed in the pavement along the shopping parade during summer 2009. The beautiful designs show reflections and wildlife in the rhynes that run through the estates.
