The Neighbourhood Management team have been working with local residents to encourage them to get together and spruce up their communal gardens.
Residents in Grasmere Drive, Bournville, were the first group to rise to the challenge and, thanks to funding from the Community Chest Fund, have completed work converting a neglected patch of ground behind their maisonettes into a garden for all ages.
Since the first garden was finished in the summer of 2008, a further 5 groups of neighbours have come forward who are keen to improve where they live.
The cost of the schemes has been covered with local funding from the Community Chest and fencing and gates were provided by NS Housing. .
